Scarborough Council is set to form a task group to provide a strategic plan for Scarborough Harbour.  No doubt under the auspicious eye of the the Portfolio holder Mike Cockerill and the Overview & Scrutiny  Board Chair Steve Siddons.  Both of whom freely admit that depsite headlining the recently dissolved  Ports  Development group that they failed.  No doubt they will seem fit to oversee & head up the proposed Harbours Task Group.   With recent questions asked of the future of Scarborough Harbour it seems fitting to look at some of the past associations, fossil style.

Trident v Underwater Drones

"An unmanned military underwater vehicle rigged with explosives was spotted on the seabed in the vicinity of the Nord Stream gas pipeline in the Baltics on Friday, Swedish media report. The device is expected to be disarmed on November 9.

Lifeboat - House

Scarborough's Lifeboat needs a new 'house'.   Currently equipped with a Mersey ALB (all weather life boat) that is nearing its 25 year life span this is to be replaced with a new boat Shannon Class All Weather Life Boat (ALB).  However the new Shannon Class will not fit into the exisiting Life Boat house together wth the Inshore Life Boat (ILB).  The RNLI need both boats to provide a level of service for the East Coast.

Boulby & Coastal Erosion

Given Cleveland Potash Ltd (aka Boulby)  interest to date in the York Potash Project it seems only fair to take a closer look at what Boulby has to offer for the future.  A letter dated 120713 from CPL  to the NYMNPA states that they have in place a plan central to which is its intention to mine for the next 40 years.    Within that letter CPL begin to argue that rather than 5-6 years of mineable reserves of MOP at Boulby there are in fact 6 to 7 years.  Presumably the 40 years is reliant on  "Further exploration is expected to add 'offshore' resources."  Interestingly CPL only have plannin
