T'Interview Techniques

Captain Qahn's picture

Four key management positions have been posted by York Potash : http://siriusminerals.com/work-with-us/jobs/current-vacancies/

Given the prestigious nature of these highly sought after positions; developing and constructing the worlds largest producing potash mine right here in the wonderful weird world of Whitby and the rather quaint National Park overlooking procedures is it prudent to have some professional interview skills to hand?  Fiddlesticks.

NYMA - Objection

Mortal Mindy's picture

The North Yorkshire Moors Association has recorded its objection to the York Potash Application, received by Redcar & Cleveland District Council on 16th March 2015.   Alongside the objection from Yorkshire Wildife Trust The NYMA is the only response that is visible post the SEI submission that extended the consultation period and has been rather swiftly uploaded onto the Consultees list.

Environment Agency to Abandon Staithes?

Mortal Mindy's picture

The Environment Agency is giving up on Staithes as the issue of its murky waters is about to be passed over to Yorkshire Water:

Foolishly, Scarborough Borough Council are using the criteria that  "only one in 16 people who visit the beach actually go for a swim"  to have Staithes beach deselected as a 'bathing' beach.  Using that same criteria could all of the Yorkshire Coast's beaches be deselected too, including Scarborough's popular North and South Bay beaches?

Rumours today have been circulating on the boards, and of much credibility, cough,  via The Times, that Boulby Mine, operated by ICL (Israel Chemicals Ltd) is in potential danger of bursting by its own babble.  The author of the article posted in The Times has been identified as Marcus Leroux, an Industrial  Correspondent whose previous  'works' have followed Rio Tinto and BHP - see here: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/public/profile/Marcus-Leroux.

CPL Managers Failed Rescue Workers ...

Mortal Mindy's picture

A Cleveland Potash worker was sacked after it was claimed his behaviour endangered the lives of hundreds of staff. Former Mines Rescue Technician and co-ordinator at the company Stephen Angus lost his job after it was alleged he failed to ensure enough people were trained rescue workers. But he told a tribunal yesterday the firm was regularly short of trained rescue workers. The 54-year-old told the hearing at Teeside Magistrates Court how he was ‘seconded to the position’ as there was no one else to do it.

A Joint Parish Forum Meeting

Mortal Mindy's picture

Firstly I have to say it has been a 'while' since I ventured down into Dalby Forest and on the approach road from Thornton le Dale, once past the toll gate into the 'Forest Drive',   the down hill  into the valley was so stunningly beautiful it almost took my breath away.  The late spring evening air with the light breeze was filled fresh with heathen aromas and it would have been very easy to spend the next few hours just inhaling and exhaling and invigourating the senses.
