Fracking - A Social Licence

Whilst the KM8 fracking fraternity  await the Rt Hon Greg Clark's final approval for Third Energy's frack, it did strike it would be quite amusing if this was turned down, given the lengths Third have gone to to be first.

The 'fracking' presentation hosted by SBC on the 21st November open to the public was an invitation not to be missed. Frack Free Scarborough were in good form and expectations of  a pitch by a Cuadrilla,  INEOS or  any T-Rex 'fracking'  team were dashed when, the mysterious 'surprise'  presenter turned out to be the NYMNPA Director of Development, Mark Hill.

Why Am I here? he asked.

Rabid dogs bring Black Death back to Europe? ...  Erm, Oh, OK ... not quite :

Sabic invests in Shale Gas imports from the USA:

"... The company is one of the world’s largest makers of chemicals, fertilizers and plastics and has operations at Wilton, near Redcar, which include the Olefins cracker.

The cracker, also known as Olefins 6, was built by ICI in 1979, and supplies products used in plastic bottles, CDs and tyres by taking feedstocks and cracking apart components.

NYMNPA - 'Fracking' Updates

Mortal Mindy's picture

NYMNPA have updated their 'fracking' page:

"The NPA welcomes the Government’s intention to prohibit any surface development required for hydraulic fracturing within National Parks as this increases the protection afforded to these special areas (DECC Consultation 4 Nov 2015). However, the Regulations voted on today (16 December 2015) which allow fracking to occur below 1200m from drilling outside the boundary of a National Park undermine this intention and indeed the legislation protecting these areas, which do not stop at a certain depth below the surface.
