"“There is basically so much damn lithium on earth it’s crazy. It’s one of the most common elements on the planet.”"

"“What we’ve found is we can actually use table salt to extract the lithium from the ore. Nobody’s done this before. All the elements are reusable. It’s a very sustainable way of obtaining lithium.”

Add table salt. Add water. A recipe for lithium mining.

With extraction solved, how about tailings?

Again, first principle thinking will provide the answer:

“The nature of the mining is also very environmentally sensitive in that we sorta take a chunk of dirt out of the ground, remove the lithium, and put the chunk of dirt back where it was.

“It will look pretty much the same as before. It will not look, like, terrible. It will be nice.“"

""They are giving elderly people a vaccine that hasn't been around for long and the makers have said they won't compensate anyone if they die or get ill. It's just absolutely terrible. People need to wake up and see what's going on in the world.

"They are sending vulnerable people to their deaths, that's the point I was trying to make... " taking vulnerable people for a vaccine that could potentially kill them or leave them with lasting illnesses, and if they suffer adverse reactions, not allowing their families to be around to care for them in the last years of their lives, it's barbaric.""

"“Of course, job creation is absolutely vital to communities but we must look forward to the jobs of 21st century, not back to those in declining industries.”

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government said in response: “The general approach of the secretary of state is not to interfere with the decision-making process of local councils on planning matters. The government’s position is that these matters are generally best determined locally, by local councils that know their own area best, rather than by central government.

“The secretary of state’s power to call in a case will be used very selectively, and in general only if planning issues of more than local importance are involved.”

“Claims that it will be carbon neutral are like claiming an oil rig is a wind turbine,”"

'Politically Literate'

"A lack of engagement and understanding in politics is not unique to younger generations...

The 1996 Education Act makes it very clear that teachers and teaching staff can't be imposing or advocating partisan opinions in the classroom. We have to trust our teachers to be able to teach civic competencies, to teach political literacy."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTDQnOqUe-Q

""I do think that in terms of political literacy there is a problem not just amongst young people, there are plenty of people that I speak to that feel they don't understand how politics works," says Cat Smith.

But she says it's right that the group is focusing solely on young people.

"This APPG is focused on young people and I guess in some ways that's probably the best place to start.

"If we invest in young people now and they engage in the democratic process, hopefully that is creating the habit of a lifetime and will solve the problem in the longer term.""

"And when all this is over we’re going to be putting hundreds of millions of pounds into nationwide catch-up programmes so that nobody gets left behind."

Salt Water

"Officials said the 77-acre (31-hectare) reservoir holds millions of gallons of water containing phosphorous and nitrogen from an old phosphate plant.

The pond where the leak was found is in a stack of phosphogypsum, a radioactive waste product from the manufacture of fertiliser.

The water contains small amounts of naturally occurring radium and uranium, and the stacks can also release radon gas.

Attempts to repair the leak late on Friday, by plugging the hole with rocks and other materials, were unsuccessful."

"A self-described workaholic, Mr Khan says his experiences as mayor have taught him to delegate.

"You've got to prioritise. You can't do everything, even with the best will in the world and working seven days a week.  "You must surround yourself with excellent people.

"So for now, at least, he has no intention of heading back to Parliament like his predecessor Mr Johnson.

He said: "The prize I'm looking at is to get enough Londoners to lend me their vote again so I can be mayor for a second term.

"Labour hasn't won a second term since 2001. We tend to not win second elections."

This election, Mr Khan says, will also test whether online attacks against him are backed up by anything real or "whether it's just bots or sad people living in their parents' basements"...
